My Son, My Son by Howard Spring
The story of William Essex, who rose from humble beginnings to become a successful dramatist and novelist, and his friend Dermot ORiordon, a fervent Irish patriot and founder of a great London furnishing house; and their sons, Oliver Essex and Rory ORiordon. Plus some other assorted characters, from old Mr Moscrop and his daughter Nellie, and Maeve ORiordon. Those boys grow up in friendship, but the passing years create circumstances that divide them as their fathers learn the hard way that sons do not always develop the way a parent might wish.My Son, My Son (1)
