Sebastiaan Rutten born 24 February is a Dutch Mixed Martial Arts fighter, professional wrestler and sport commentator. He started his career training in several martial arts and competing in professional Kickboxing in Holland, but he left the business for being mistreated by promoters. Despite debuting there as a dangerous kickboxer, Rutten found himself struggling against the predominant grapplers of the company, so after his first defeat by submission, he devoted himself to a makeshift grappling training. Over time, his new attitude paid off, and Rutten became one of the strongest fighters of Pancrase, amassing win after win and capturing the King of Pancrase Openweight Championship twice counting an unification fight. His career there, though decorated with another championship, was brief and controversial, and he retired shortly after by injuries and battle wear. Currently, he works as a commentator and guest for several media.

He was a UFC Heavyweight Champion , a three-time King of Pancrase world champion, and finished his career on a 22 fight unbeaten streak 21 wins, 1 draw. In the 4-hours, minutes and 8-seconds he spent as a pro fighter, Rutten scored 13 knockdowns without getting dropped himself, his significant strike accuracy was As a professional fighter, one of his favorite tactics was the liver shot both punch and kick , and he popularized its use in MMA. He has worked as a color commentator in several MMA organizations, including Pride , and has appeared in numerous television shows, movies, and video games. He also coaches MMA and has authored several instructional materials. Rutten was born in Tilburg , Netherlands. At the age of 6 he developed eczema and severe asthma.

So, if a match up was possible between Quinton "Rampage' Jackson and Bas Rutten both in their prime who would most likely take the fight? I have a bias toward Bas Rutten since I have trained with him in my Sambo class on quite a few occassions so I'm going to try and stay out of this topic as much as possible - I want to see what people think. I know highlight videos don't make an argument, but here are some from both just for a glimpse of their styles. Rampage would just slam him and finish him for the tko. I think Ruten would liver shot Jackson for a quick ko since Jackson would most likely get way ahead of himself and dominate Bas like he does to others. Both have great records, but I give it to Bas. Liver shot ftw.
