Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1) by Gail Carriger

Its one thing to learn to curtsy properly. Its quite another to learn to curtsy and throw a knife at the same time. Welcome to Finishing School.

Fourteen-year-old Sophronia is a great trial to her poor mother. Sophronia is more interested in dismantling clocks and climbing trees than proper manners--and the family can only hope that company never sees her atrocious curtsy. Mrs. Temminnick is desperate for her daughter to become a proper lady. So she enrolls Sophronia in Mademoiselle Geraldines Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality.

But Sophronia soon realizes the school is not quite what her mother might have hoped. At Mademoiselle Geraldines, young ladies learn to finish...everything. Certainly, they learn the fine arts of dance, dress, and etiquette, but they also learn to deal out death, diversion, and espionage--in the politest possible ways, of course. Sophronia and her friends are in for a rousing first years education.

The show started out surprisingly good, with an interesting premiss and a likeable main character. I thought it might deal with more serious things down the road, like dealing with a death of a loved one, or some such heavier material.

犬とハサミは使いよう Episode 10,11,12 Dog and Scissors

One day, while reading in a cafe, he is shot and killed when he attempts to protect a random stranger during a robbery. As he is determined to read his favorite author's unreleased last work, he gets a second chance and is reincarnated as a long-haired dachshund. As a dog he is adopted by Kirihime Natsuno, the very person he tried to save, as well as the only person who can understand him in his new form. Kazuhito then discovers that she is not only his favorite novelist, but also a sadist who enjoys terrorizing him with scissors. Enterbrain published 14 volumes from February 28, to January 30, under their Famitsu Bunko imprint ; 10 comprise the main story, while the other four are short story collections.

The absurd mystery comedy centers around Kazuhito Harumi, a high school boy who is obsessed with reading books. One day, he is killed in the middle of a robbery — and resurrected as a dachshund dog. Unable to read in his new form, the hapless Kazuhito now belongs to Kirihime Natsuno, a sadistic novelist who uses scissors on Kazuhito to abuse him. Natsuno the black-haired sadist woman with striking red eyes. The Opening Theme was quite a striking difference to any anime song mostly used for most anime. Not sure whether to think its overly upbeat in not exactly a pleasing way or not. Although come to think of it since Dog and Scissors is supposed to an absurd mystery comedy then the OP is quite fitting after some thought.
