What is compelling about Turkey that would make someone read one book about the country, let alone five? I must be quite autobiographical here, as I live in Turkey.

Make Your Own List. She chooses five books on Turkey, including a biography of the she-city in all its vibrant energy and intensity. Elif Shafak is an award-winning novelist. She is the most widely read writer in Turkey and writes fiction in both English and Turkish. Shafak is also a political scientist, focusing mainly in contemporary western political thought and Middle Eastern studies.

J ason Goodwin fell in love with Istanbul while studying Byzantine history at Cambridge. He has since begun his series of novels featuring Yashim, the Turkish eunuch detective.

Along with writing, I adore reading. I believe one of the most pleasant moments in life, is when we read a fact or fiction book that moves and motivates us to experience more and enjoy each day to the fullest. With that in mind, I am eager to share my list of books about the country of Turkey. I have read each one and update this list, when the last page of each book has been closed. All of them can be purchased on Amazon, in either hard back form or for kindle. From travel guidebooks to novels to fiction and fact, to make for easier browsing, I have separated them into categories.
