Phillipians, iv. In vain by reason and by rule We try to bend the will; For none but in the Saviour's school Can learn the heavenly skill. Since at His feet my soul has sate, His gracious words to hear, Contented with my present state, I cast on Him my care. How light thy troubles here, if weigh'd With everlasting pain! Think what my love for thee endured, And thou wilt not repine. This poem is a good example of why I like Cowper's material.

Buying a car today would be so nice! Having a car thats old is quite alright; Getting a car tomorrow would be wise! Changing a car each day would not be right. Having something thats old is good enough; Having something today seems still better; Having something tomorrow is quite tough; Yet, satisfaction's prime that must matter. Each thing in time has its advantages; Postponement's not something you always do; One shouldn't decide slowly or take ages; All things have demerits and beauty too!

Since the day I met you I have found This feeling that abides within. A constant that inhabits my heart, A knowing that lingers, A sense that has been. When I awake, it rises with me like the sun. When I lie down, it embraces me like a blanket of warmth. When I am emotionally entangled, it centers my core. When I am soaring above the clouds, it is my wind.
