If its magic stevie wonder lyrics
If its Magic by Stevie WonderThe song that Im reviewing is If Its Magic by Stevie Wonder. This song is about love and how if its as wonderful as everyone says it is, why dont we treat it as such? Stevie Wonder is my favorite artist of all time, and he is a musical genius in my opinion. The aspect of craft that he uses the best is the art of specificity and his use of unforgettable language. It would have been much too easy to actually say If Love is Magic. Stevie had to go and make it one big riddle. The genius of it is that he never uses the word love at all in the song! The chorus says “It holds the key to every heart throughout the universe, it fills you up without a bite, and quenches every thirst. That is a VERY POWERFUL way to describe love! There are similes in the song that exemplify specificity and give you examples of how careful we should be with love. For example, the third verse says If its special, then with it why arent we as careful... as making sure we dress in style... posing pictures with a smile... keeping danger from a child? This song is special to me because love should be that special, but how often do we assess whether or not were giving it the reverence it deserves? If I were a writing teacher and I wanted to incorporate this type of writing into a lesson, I could have my students write rhyming riddles and have them try to guess each others riddles.

Blind virtually since birth, Wonder's heightened awareness of sound helped him create vibrant, colorful music teeming with life and ambition. Nearly everything he recorded bore the stamp of his sunny, joyous positivity; even when he addressed serious racial, social, and spiritual issues which he did quite often in his prime , or sang about heartbreak and romantic uncertainty, an underlying sense of optimism and hope always seemed to emerge. Much like his inspiration, Ray Charles, Wonder had a voracious appetite for many different kinds of music, and refused to confine himself to any one sound or style. His range helped account for his broad-based appeal, but so did his unique, elastic voice, his peerless melodic facility, his gift for complex arrangements, and his taste for lovely, often sentimental ballads. Originally, Wonder was a child prodigy who started out in the general Motown mold, but he took control of his vision in the '70s, spinning off a series of incredible albums that were as popular as they were acclaimed; most of his reputation rests on these works, which most prominently include Talking Book, Innervisions, and Songs in the Key of Life.
If it's magic, Then why can't it be everlasting Like the sun that always shines Like the poets in his rhyme Like the galaxies in time If it's pleasing, Then why can't it be never leaving Like the day that never fails Like on seashores there are shells Like the time that always tells It holds the key to every heart Throughout the universe It fills you up without a bite And quenches every thirst So, If it's special, Then with it why aren't we as careful As making sure we dress in style Posing pictures with a smile Keeping danger from a child It holds the key to every heart Throughout the universe It fills you up without a bite And quenches every thirst So, If it's magic, Why can't we make it everlasting Like the lifetime of the sun It will leave no heart undone For there's enough for everyone.
