Johnny Cash: The Life by Robert HilburnThe national bestseller celebrated as the ultimate Johnny Cash biography....Rock writer great Robert Hilburn goes deep. -- Rolling Stone
In this, the definitive biography of an American legend, Robert Hilburn conveys the unvarnished truth about a musical superstar. Johnny Cashs extraordinary career stretched from his days at Sun Records with Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis to the remarkable creative last hurrah, at age 69, that resulted in the brave, moving Hurt video.
As music critic for the Los Angeles Times, Hilburn knew Cash throughout his life: he was the only music journalist at the legendary Folsom Prison concert in 1968, and he interviewed both Cash and his wife June Carter just months before their deaths. Drawing upon a trove of never-before-seen material from the singers inner circle, Hilburn creates an utterly compelling, deeply human portrait of a towering figure in country music, a seminal influence in rock, and an icon of American popular culture. Hilburns reporting shows the astonishing highs and deep lows that marked the journey of a man of great faith and humbling addiction who throughout his life strove to use his music to lift peoples spirits.

A school girl from Lymington has won the under 18's category of a national talent competition. Birdy beat 22 other competitors in the final held in Portsmouth - she popped into Sally Taylor's show to play her winning self-penned song. Having battled through previous competitive auditions and a tough regional final, Birdy grabbed the under 18's title in the live final on 29 November, playing keyboards and singing a very moving song that she wrote herself, So Be Free. The finals were held at Portsmouth's Guildhall with Birdy facing fierce competition from her older rivals: "It was amazing, they were all older than me, and they were so good that I didn't think that I was going to win," she told Sally Taylor. Birdy is one of five children and lives near Lymington. Her great uncle was the actor Sir Dirk Bogarde. Winning the competition could thrust Birdy into the limelight, dad Rupert is keen to support her all the way: "I think the one thing we will do is get her as much advice first - it's got to be Birdy's call.
You can find a talent show for just about anything: from singing, to dancing; and from cooking, to modeling. Although I watch these two shows because I find them very entertaining, I also like to watch them for the life lessons that they teach. These lessons are the following:. However, their day job is just a way to pay the bills. In addition to their day job, they each have a passion. That passion might be doing magic, dancing hip hop, being a trapeze artist, tap dancing, and so on.
Who Wants To Make It Winner (BET Awards Weekend)
First off, by "Made It," I don't mean filling up arenas or the sort of unlimited abundance that could "make it rain" everyday. I mean making music a full-time focus that pays bills, so that you can start doing what you love. With all of this talk about Female Hip Hop Artists failing in the music industry and less and less female rappers being signed , I have been inspired to write this article and share what worked and what didn't I'm still applying these new discoveries myself and learning everyday from them, so I can make no guarantees, but my hope is that this helps a next generation of conscious artists trying to let their voices be heard. Who am I?
Scammers and con men are a part of every industry and the music business is no exception. That being said, you have to approach all potential opportunities with cautious optimism. Even though the music industry is full of sharks, you will be offered legitimate opportunities as well, so try to avoid ruining a great opportunity due to an overly defensive attitude. Remember, save the hard-ass business tactics for when a contract is actually on the table or money is changing hands. Here we go….
