Vertigo 42 afternoon tea reviews
Vertigo 42 (Richard Jury, #23) by Martha GrimesIn her latest Richard Jury mystery, Martha Grimes delivers the newest addition to the bestselling series The Washington Post calls “literate, lyrical, funny, funky, discursive, bizarre.” The inimitable Scotland Yard Superintendent returns, now with a tip of the derby to Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo.
Richard Jury is meeting Tom Williamson at Vertigo 42, a bar on the forty-second floor of an office building in London’s financial district. Despite inconclusive evidence, Tom is convinced his wife, Tess, was murdered seventeen years ago. The inspector in charge of the case was sure Tess’s death was accidental—a direct result of vertigo—but the official police inquiry is still an open verdict and Jury agrees to re-examine the case.
Jury learns that a nine-year-old girl fell to her death five years before Tess at the same country house in Devon where Tess died. The girl had been a guest at a party Tess was giving for six children. Jury seeks out the five surviving party guests, who are now adults, hoping they can shed light on this bizarre coincidence.
Meanwhile, an elegantly dressed woman falls to her death from the tower of a cottage near the pub where Jury and his cronies are dining one night. Then the dead woman’s estranged husband is killed as well. Four deaths—two in the past, two that occur on the pages of this intricate, compelling novel—keep Richard Jury and his sidekick Sergeant Wiggins running from their homes in Islington to the countryside in Devon and to London as they try to figure out if the deaths were accidental or not. And, if they are connected.
Witty, well-written, with literary references from Thomas Hardy to Yeats, Vertigo 42 is a pitch perfect, page-turning novel from a mystery writer at the top of her game.

No landmarks, just another building. I moved us to After an underwhelming experience at a trendy Bermondsey Tapas Bar, I decided to round off the evening at an old stand-by, Vertigo 42 - which my colleague had never previously been to. The good news is that nothing has changed - exceptionally good service from The view is amazing and the round shape of the venue allows to enjoy London at degrees. I had a prosecco and it was overpriced compared to the poor quality. The staff is unfriendly and they welcomed us saying that the minimum price to

Pra Ver Londres do alto: conheça o incrível Vertigo 42
A friend living in London booked this experience through Groupon for us when we were coming to What a fantastic afternoon we had the charcuterie which was really lovely and the Royale Hendricks Beautiful will definitely return the food drinks and service was marvellous and great that we had a clear sunny day, the views were spectacular! As it says "42" so this is level 42 and the views across London are amazing. Just walking around the restaurant and the different views are breath taking. Oh yes, and the afternoon tea was very good.
Super location, excellent customer service with champagne and platters to make your visit special Staff happy to guide and advise with food and wine, the steak strips with Tarragon Mayonnaise was divine and the desert tasting platter could tempt the Angels! All this and the most amazing views over the river, lovely atmosphere and the bonus of great champagne cellar. Myself and my wife went to Vertigo 42 as part of a deal with Amazon local for afternoon tea. On arrival we were shown to our seats, all diners have views looking out as a glass table stretches round the restaurant. I've read reviews where that people have complained that their is not enough to eat , for us it was perfect, very tasty and just enough. The views of the City and beyond were stunning.
Not sure why this place has bad reviews. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Champagne great and the food good quality. Worth a visit. After receiving this experience as a gift for Christmas i was really looking forward to it, unfortunately it did not live up to expectations. I was gifted a voucher for Afternoon Tea. I suggest that you check before your arrival that your name is on the booking list at Reception before turning up, as despite booking a month prior, my name was not listed on the given day and I spent an unneccessary and rather humiliating time trying to convince staff that my booking had been made.
